My Own HowTo’s.

What you’ll find here is a collection of, mostly short, howto’s or guides, describing how I got some things installed/configured/whatevered on my machines.

BIG FAT WARNING:
These howto’s usually only describe what worked for me.
Keeping all these things in one centralized place, as a personal archive, allows me, if needed, to reconfigure systems just the way I like it without too much hassle.

I will always try to supply links to other documentation as well, be it official or made by other (Linux) users.

You are of course very welcome to use these howto’s, but always use the official documentation as well, and take a look at the other links. I never think my way is the best way, and I try not to force my way onto others. Using documentation from different sources will hopefully help you in adapting it to your specific situation.

In conclusion; I’m in no way responsible if you messed up your system with them!

Firefox Tweaks
Some adjustments I made to my Firefox configuration, mostly to speed up page loading. This applies only to Firefox 2.*. I have not tested it on newer versions.

Football Manager on Linux
A short guide on how I got the popular game Football Manager running on Linux using Wine. Currently, this applies for FM2007 and FM2008, but it might also work on older versions of the game.

Configuring Arch Linux
A step by step description of how I got the essential aspects of an Arch Linux install configured on my (former) desktop.

Installing Debian GNU/Linux ‘Etch’
A graphical walkthrough of the installation procedure of Debian GNU/Linux Etch.

Installing Arch Linux
A graphical walkthrough of the installation procedure of Arch Linux. This guide is currently based on the 2007.05 release, codenamed ‘Duke’. For the largest part, it is still applicable to newer versions.

Other People’s HowTo’s.

This is a list of links to other people’s ‘unofficial’ guides and howto’s, which I find particularly well written, and which I would highly recommend.

.

K.Mandla’s Howto Page.
K.Mandla is somewhat of an expert when it comes to tweaking your linux setup on older hardware, especially older laptops. This page on his blog contains a list of short howto’s written by him. Highly recommended to Arch/Crux/Ubuntu users who want to speed up their systems, and to everyone else as well.

Urukrama’s Openbox Guide.
This is by far the best openbox guide I’ve encountered. It’s structured, very complete and well written. Urukrama uses Ubuntu, but most of it is easily adaptable to any other distro. Be sure to check out the rest of his blog as well, it’s full of other good howto’s.

Other Docs.

This list contains other documentation or articles I’ve written myself, which I find important and/or good enough to keep.
