As I’ve mentioned before, I needed to do a cleanup of this blog. So in between studying for my upcoming exams, I already managed to get the following done:
- I added a “bigger, fatter warning” on the Docs & HowTo’s page.
Just to make sure I got everyone’s attention. - I added some more explanation with each howto.
Nothing fancy, but it looks a bit cleaner now. - I added links to other people’s howto’s.
Right now there’s only two links in that list. But I visit those two site’s regularly, especially when I do a new, clean install. So instead of writing up my own howto’s on the subjects (which I still might do later), I just link to theirs. I’m sure the authors won’t mind the extra (be it very little) publicity. - I licensed this blog.
In the past I had already added a copy of the GNU Free Documentation License to my About page. And to make it a bit more obvious, I now added a widget which specifies and links to the license.
Now, don’t go thinking those whopping 8,000 blog hits have gone straight to my head. I just feel that since I’m writing mostly about open software, the least I could do is make my own writing open as well. Let’s just call it a symbolic gesture. - I cleaned up my blogroll again.
Some blogs have become a bit too inactive, so I deleted them. (To the authors: Sorry guys, but you’re still in my bookmarks, so when you start blogging again, I’ll put you back up there.) And of course I’ve also added some new ones.
I estimate I’m about halfway through. I still need to update and improve the actual howto’s themselves, and maybe look into finding better and faster hosting for the screenshots and other images. But I’ve still got exams for the next four weeks, so there should be enough study breaks to get it all done.
